Our Five Year Anniversary Party: First Studio Vlog!
Hi everyone! Cristina here, and welcome to our five year anniversary party!
This wasn’t just any day—it was a big milestone for our small business, and it was everything we hoped it would be and more. Let me take you behind the scenes of how it all came together, the chaos, the laughs, and the memories we’ll cherish forever.
Our First Studio Vlog - Spend the day with us!
The idea came along of recording our party to share it with our supporters, and also to have as a lovely memory for ourselves. We want to start creating more of these long-form videos to show you how we manage our small business, behind the scenes in the studio and all things needlepoint!
This is our way of inviting you in and recounting everything that went into making this celebration happen, so watch it and be a part of our special day!
The Idea: A Party with a Purpose
When we started brainstorming how to celebrate this milestone, we knew we wanted to do something different. Sure, we could’ve thrown a regular party, but where’s the fun in that? Instead, we decided to bring our loved ones into our world—literally. We wanted to share our craft with them, to let them experience what we do every day in our studio.
We moved into this studio space about a year ago, and honestly, we’ve been meaning to invite everyone over since day one. But you know how it goes—we kept waiting for the “perfect” moment. The space had to be just right, the furniture had to be finished, the decor had to be flawless… and then we realized, “Wait, life isn’t perfect, and neither is our studio!” So, we set a date, rolled up our sleeves, and got to work.
In the week leading up to the party, we finished up some needlepoint pieces to showcase on the day, built a few chairs since we were expecting a lot of people and they needed to be seated, and decorated the space to make it feel warm and welcoming. Was it absolutely flawless? Nope. But was it perfect to us? For sure!
The Day: Food, Friends, and Feels
By 3 PM, the studio was buzzing with laughter and chatter as everyone started arriving. We had an amazing spread of food (because let’s be real, no party is complete without it), and it was so special to finally meet some of our team’s family and friends in person!
We had former co-workers, Unwind Artists who collaborate on our kits, and of course, our inner circle—the people who’ve been cheering us on since day one. It was such a joy to see everyone mingling, sharing stories, and just enjoying the moment.
The Activities: Crafting for All Ages
One thing about our friends and family? Kids are everywhere. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. We wanted to make sure the little ones felt just as included as the adults, so we set up a special kids’ station decorated with balloons, drawings to paint, and Posca pens for them to unleash their creativity on our windows (don’t worry, it was washable!).
For the adults, it was easy to choose the main event. We transformed our worktable into a beginner-friendly needlepoint workshop. We chose a simple geometric design that everyone could tackle, and by the end of it, they’d have a cute little magnet to take home.
The best part? Seeing everyone’s faces light up as they got the hang of it. Some of them were so into it that they’ve already sent us photos of their stitching projects at home—safe to say, we’ve created a few new craft addicts!
And let’s not forget the kids’ workshop. They got to stitch our pink daisy kit with a little help from me and their parents, while the older ones worked on their animal canvases. Watching them engage with the craft and seeing their proud smiles was honestly one of the highlights of the day.
The Speech: Gratitude and Cake
After the workshop, it was time for the moment I’d been both dreading and looking forward to: the speech. I’m not gonna lie, I was so nervous. But as I looked around the room, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude.
I shared how thankful I am for everyone in that room—our support system, our cheerleaders, our partners in crime. Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today. It was a moment of pure love and appreciation, and I’m so glad I got to share it with them.
And then… the cake! Our friend Baked by Eli made the most beautiful cake, and we all sang Happy Birthday (to us, ha!). It was the perfect way to wrap up the celebration.
The Takeaway: A Day to Remember
Looking back, the day was everything we hoped for and more. It wasn’t about perfection—it was about connection. It was about sharing our passion with the people we love and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
